Moor has been used for medicinal purposes for over 120 years in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Harvested daily and cleared of fragments of wood and little stones in a mud mill, the medicinal mud is mixed with thermal spring water in stirrers until the desired consistency is achieved. For compresses, the mud is stirred until it is a thick paste.
The compress can be used, depending on the location, for:
- the treatment of symptoms of signs of wear of the spine and joints and for rheumatism
- the alleviation of pain caused by chronic rheumatic conditions
- assistance after orthopaedic operations and joint replacements
- assistance with osteoporosis
As a mud compress provides warmth to the body constantly and gently, it can be applied at a relatively high temperature of up to 46°C without burdening the circulation.
Sustainable harvesting - After application the "black earth" is returned to the moor where it regenerates within a decade.
Scientific research demonstrates: Bad Tatzmannsdorf medicinal mud has a 3x better heat retention capacity than comparable medicinal substances such as fango and mud.
